Geography:

Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a union territory of India. It comprises of 572 Islands of which 37 Islands are inhabited at the junction of the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. The Andaman Sea lies to the East and the Bay of Bengal to the west. The Island Chains are predicted to be the submerged extension of the Arakan Mountains.

The territory consists of three districts:

1. Nicobar District
2. South of Andaman District
3. North and Middle of Andaman District

Andaman Islands & Nicobar Islands are separated by 150 km wide Ten Degree channel with Andaman Islands to the North of this latitude and the Nicobar Islands to the South.

Languages Spoken:

Hindi and English are the official languages. Bengal, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Nicobanese, Malayalam, Sadri, Kurukh, Munda, Kharia are the spoken languages.

Vegetation:

Paddy is the main food crop cultivated in Andaman group of Islands. Coconut and Arecanut are the cash crops of Nicobar group of Islands. Field crops grown here are pulses, oilseeds and vegetables. Fruits grown on hilly regions include Mango, Sapota, Orange, Banana, Papaya. Pepper, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon spices are also grown here.
